Naved Ali (Jackie Shroff), a media baron, is the ideal guru for any young aspiring man. Suraj is in awe of Naved and considers him as his ideal.

Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai traces Suraj's journey towards his ultimate goal and the dreams and desires of this boy, that change along the way. They change every time he achieves one goal and finds that it is not pacifying him till the time he decides that, "All I want is everything" In his pursuit of everything, he finds love in Pooja (Rani Mukherjee), understanding in Lara (Sushmita Sen), and a driving force in Naved Ali.

But somewhere along the way, he decides that everything is not truly what he wants, it is in fact the little things that he once had, that gave him the happiness and now he desperately seeks them. So he sets out to make things right once again.
