Abhi’s favourite Ben Hur

So what if Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan doesn’t know his history, the star definitely is clued in to a lot of period movies worldwide. In an earlier interview, Abhishek Bachchan had mentioned how bad he felt when Ashutosh Gowarikar approached him with Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey, as he had no hint about the protagonist, Surjya Sen.

Abhishek Bachchan also said that he didn’t even know about the Chittagong Uprising. The flicks, which is based on journalist Manini Chatterjee’s book “Do and Die: The Chittagong Uprising 1930-34,” showcases the true tale of a revolution against the British Empire in Chittagong, a district in undivided Bengal. This struggle was led by a young school teacher, Surjya Sen, known as Masterda. It’s this forgotten chapter of history that compelled the actor to play the character. But Bachchan, who has done his schooling in Europe, accepts he’s more clued in to European history.

Ask him to take a pick from his favourite period films of all times and he chooses Blues Brothers and Ben Hur. Abhishek Bachchan stated that these are his all-time favourite movies and have remained so since his school days. Abhishek was only ten years old when he saw Ben Hur for the first time and it was such a breathtaking experience.
