Abhishek Bachchan at the IIFA awardsImage via Wikipedia

Abhishek Bachchan
,after relishing the huge success of his first production venture"Paa" starring Amitabh Bachchan and Vidya Balan, is currently shooting for his upcoming filmKhelenge Hum Jee Jaan Se directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar in Goa. While he is working hard on the movie,Abhishek is not missing any chance to explore the beautiful place and its beaches and caves and generally to see how the life in Goa runs. The actor is also trying to learn some Konkaneese and Portugese for the role of a cop who busts the drug mafia in his next movie directed by Rohan Sippy.

He’s also trying to pick up Portuguese and Konkanese for the character of the drug-busting cop he plays in his next flick directed by Rohan Sippy.Director Rohan Sippy who has recently tied the knot wants his movie to be shot in the crowded streets of Goa unlike what is usually seen in most of the movies where Goa is looked at as a serene place.Rohan Sippy will construct sets that replicate Goan locations in case shooting there itself becomes impossible. He is also very selective in casting roles for his film as he wants the characters to look Goan as much as possible.

Farhan refuses to share screen with Abhishek

The Indian filmmaker, script writer, actor, the all rounder Farhan Akhtar refuses to share screen space with his childhood friend Abhishek Bachchan. The latest buzz is that Farhan has walked out of Rohan Sippy’s project.

Rohan Sippy has been decided that the film is to be made on three actors Abhishek Bachchan, Pratik Babbar and Farhan Akhtar but as Farhan opted out, Rohan has again started his search for the third lead actor.

Although, Farhan Akhtar was the first choice to play Abhishek's co-star. Abhishek Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar had to portray the same role which was based on Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor films that Javed Akhtar once wrote.

Rohan Sippy's hunt for the new actor ended with John Abraham with whom Abhishek Bachchan had starred in Dostana and Dhoom. Let's see whether their Dostana will work or Rohan has to find a new face again...

Abhishek's upcoming films in 2009-2010

Abhishek Bachchan has worked with directors as diverse as Rakeysh Mehra and Mani Ratnam. From Rakeysh Mehra's Delhi 6, Abhishek Bachchan is now going into Delhi Belly director Abhinay Deo's next. Deo will plunge straight into his next project with Abhishek right after he finishes his Imran Khan starrer Delhi Belly.

Abhishek's

For the Bachchan junior it has been a time of great learning experiences. He looks back and thinks that he has gathered good memories with each film that he did. Last and this year he did some great films like Sarkar Raj and Dostana. Then this year came Delhi 6.

Another major project on the anvil is with wife Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan again. It's a film based on Abhimaan with Rajiv Menon while the two are featuring together in Raavana.

Then he is also doing Rohan Sippy's next. We'll try to do something as different as Bluff Master. He is also a doing Rakeysh Mehra's Paanch Kaurav and R.Balki's Paa.

Abhishek Bachchan-The Bluffmaster

Director Rohan Sippy takes the plot by the scruff of its neck, and within 10-15 minutes, the story is ready to zoom. Don’t expect a laugh riot from this movie. However, it does entertain. The movie begins with a film producer (Tinu Anand) taking an anonymous call on someone’s lost mobile he found lying on the road. Meet Roy (Abhishek Bachchan), a street-savvy bluffmaster who knows many a trick in the con game. The only thing he doesn’t bluff is his romance for Simi (Priyanka Chopra).

Roy teaches Dittu the tricks of the game and the two manage to dupe Chandru of crores. ‘Bluffmaster’ begins excellently. The very first sequence sets the movie’s pace. But the story derails whenever the movie goes onto the romantic track involving the lovesick bluffmaster repeatedly approaching his ladylove.

Abhishek’s character in the movie should have been better brought out. Roy is a somber bluffmaster who reacts with repulsion to the comedy going around him. Add to it Abhishek’s own serenity that lends a further serious look to the character. Ideally, Abhishek is not suited to this role.

But it is Nana Patekar who pales everyone with his lively and funny act. He plays an Hotelier who keeps secretaries for more reasons than just typing. The best part about Nana’s performance is the way he delivers his lines. His dialogues, particularly in the pre-climax sequence, are extremely hilarious.

Boman Irani, too, acquits himself well. His humour is lighthearted. Priyanka Chopra enacts her part well, but her character has little direct significance to the story except the fact that she happens to be Abhi’s ladylove.

In a nutshell, Rohan Sippy offers a mixed package in ‘Bluffmaster’. The movie’s plot doesn’t move in a straight line. It swings between romance and comedy. Thankfully, the songs in the film are not a hindrance to its pace. Only two bluffs in the movie are intelligently conceived. The first one comes at the beginning, the other at the very end.

No two thoughts, it's enough to see ‘Bluffmaster’ once.

Abhi to represent bollywood at Wharton

Abhishek Bachchan

Bachchan Jr. will be speaking in the prestigious Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania on 21st March, 2009. This will be a moment of proud for one and all back home. Abhishek will express his views as part of a panel exploring the impact of India’s booming economy on the Hindi film industry.

Abhishek, who will be addressing the students and staff of the posh business school, is not only confident about facing his learned gathering in the US, he is also writing his speech entirely on his own. A friend of the young actor revealed, “It’s a big honour, considering Bollywood is still in its infancy and considering actors all over the world have been labeled intellectually challenged from the 19th century onwards.” Abhishek rushed to Malaysia for one day’s shooting of Paa, returned to Mumbai, and is spending all his free time polishing up his speech. “He’s taking his role as a spokesperson at the international forum very seriously,” added his friend.

Bachchan Jr., along with filmmaker Rohan Sippy and PVR Cinemas Chairman Ajay Bijli , will be part of a panel on Bollywood’s Silver Screen: Pursuit of the Golden Globe at the 13th edition of the Philadelphia event.

Discussion topics will chart the growth of the industry, encompass the retailing of cinema, exploring the changing landscape in film financing and how prolific cinema-making has given way to a quality that is appreciated by a much broader audience, the Forum said in a statement on its website. Bachchan’s father Amitabh wrote about Abhishek’s Wharton engagement, describing it as a sign of the expanding reach of Indian cinema, on his blog.

The forum will be driven by business leaders, politicians and experts from across the world who will come together to share their outlook and vision on the ‘Road Ahead for India ’, this year’s title theme.

Apart from Abhishek, former sportsmen Sunil Gavaskar, Geet Sethi and Vijay Amritraj, Sabeer Bhatia , film director Rohan Sippy and Rahul Gandhi are expected to share their vision for a new India.
