Paa offers simple music

The Indian film composer, singer, lyricist Ilayaraja has composed tunes for the film Paa that mingles well with the movie's subject. Director R. Balakrishnan's film features Amitabh Bachchan as Abhishek's son Auro, who suffers from progeria that causes premature ageing. It also stars Vidya Balan as Amitabh Bachchan's mother.




Paa's album begins with 'Mudhi mudhi ittefaq se' by Shilpa Rao. The album is melodious but not for long period. The song is aired on television channels and has become a hit.

'Mudhi mudhi ittefaq se' has two more versions one is 'Udhi udhi' that is an extension of the original and 'Gali mudhi' that has sung by Shaan. Even in a slower pace the song is equally nice.

Other one is 'Halke se bol', which is a children's song and has a chorus behind the mike. Another situational number that doesn't impress too much is 'Hichki hichki' which is sung by Sunidhi Chauhan.

The title song of the flick 'Mere paa' has been sung by Amitabh Bachchan himself. Last but nt the least there is 'Gumm summ gumm' sung by the composer's daughter Bavatharini with ample support from the chorus.

On the whole, Paa offers simple yet delightful music. Enjoy !!!

Abhishek Bachchan Enters Guinness Book:

Actor Abhishek Bachchan had a tiring day on 22/02/09 Sunday, but one that has saw him make a world record. He has made a new record of maximum public appearances in different cities. Abhishek Bachchan's marathon seven-city promotional tour for the movie Delhi-6 kept the security staff busy in managing his fans and led to some moviegoers missing their films but the actor exuded confidence in getting his name listed in the record books.




As the actor rushed from one city to another in his attempt to get the feedback of audiences in different cinema halls, his fans were there all the time. In an interview, Abhishek told the reporters that "It is really exciting to get first hand response about your movie. The cinema halls were running packed wherever I went."His target cities were Ghaziabad, Noida, Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Chandigarh and Mumbai.

The actor reached a Noida cinema 10 minutes before schedule only to see a over 500-strong crowd gathering around the hall, literally threatening to disrupt the event. Though Bachchan had initially planned to interact with the audience, he had to rush out within 10 minutes.Many of the moviegoers were also caught in the crowd and missed their show as the tight security made their entry difficult.

The current record-holder in the category of the greatest number of public appearances by a film star at different cities in 12 hours promoting the same film is five by Jorgen Vogel and Daniel Brohl (Germany). They walked the red carpet, signed autographs and introduced the film Ein Freund von mir (Germany 2006) at cinemas in Munich, Berlin, Hamburg, Dusseldorf and Cologne, Germany, on Oct 22, 2006. They were accompanied by the director of Ein Freund von mir Sebastian Schipper.

ABHISHEK BACHCHAN-BOLLYWOOD ACTOR:

There is an interesting story behind how abhishek bachchan got the film "yuva". Apparently Bachchan Jr does not answer phone calls from unidentified numbers. So when Mani Ratnam called him up, he didn't take the call. Thank God for Bachchan's friend and Ratnam's former assistant Shaad Ali (Saathiya), who intervened and got the two talking.




That's how Bachchan landed a plum role in Yuva.

The 28 year-old's rustic and intense look as Lallan Singh, as seen in the promos of this much-awaited film, has come in for much appreciation.

The Hindi and Tamil versions of Yuva are separate. The only common things between the two are Esha Deol , and the technicians. Both the films were shot separately and have a different star cast. They were not shot simultaneously. Yuva went on the floors first and then Tamil version too went on. But we never shot together.

Mani ratnam is a highly acclaimed and respected director. It was abhishek's dream to work with mani ratnam. Abhishek says "I am happy I worked with him early in my career. He is just brilliant. I do not have enough words to explain the experience of working with someone like Mani. It is a great honour to be in his film. Apart from what he does in films, he is also a great guy."

Before the release of the film, abhishek says "I cannot classify Yuva as an 'action film', a 'romantic film' or a 'dramatic film'. The only thing I am sure about is: it is a 'Mani Ratnam film'. He was behind the camera. So, obviously, it will be a good film. I hope Yuva turns out to be a good film for audiences too."

Abhishek's character in the film is that he is a very passionate person, regardless of what he is doing. If he loves you, he loves you to death. If he hates you, he can probably kill you. He is a very interesting and complex kind of person. Abhishek said , It was highly enjoyable to portray this character

Three A's makes a new film

Some years ago Raj Kumar Santoshi made a film called Khakee, it was really a good thriller. It had four aces in the form of Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgan Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai. So we can say that four aces were part of that venture.




Now, again 3 A’s or aces are coming together in a new film which is untitled. This film has Asin with Abhishek Bachchan and Aushutosh Gowarikar is directing it. If the films title starts with alphabet A then it is will be a four cornered A.

Will Aushutosh name his film with A, let us wait and watch!

Asin in Ashutosh Gowarikar film starring Abhishek

The lead pair of Ashutosh Gowariker’s next period venture, Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey, which is based on the Chittagong Uprising, is finally in place. We had earlier reported that Abhishek Bachchan will play the lead role as Surjya Sen. Now the buzz is that Gowariker has finalised Asin to play the female lead.





A source said, “This will be the first time that Abhishek and Asin will be paired opposite each other. The film’s first schedule will tentatively start around November 25.”

Ashutosh reportedly summoned Asin at his Khar office where he expressed his desire to cast her for this period drama.

Asin was so rejoiced that she gave an affirmative nod even before she heard the full narration of the script. She told Ashu that she has seen his previous films and was looking forward to working with him.

Unexpectedly beautiful Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who was supposed to work in this film at the first place is not a part of the project now. Does this have anything to do with motherhood?

Apparently, the forthcoming film will be produced by Gowariker along with PVR Pictures and not UTV who had produced his last three films.

Emotional Abhishek Bachchan

The grandson of Harivansh Rai Bachchan and son of Amitabh Bachchan, is this emotional, caring and sensitive Abhishek Bachchan.




The actor is busy these days with the shooting of his forthcoming movie 'Paa' . This movie gave him the chance to visit Cambridge where his grandfather and poet Late Dr Harivansh Rai Bachchan had studied. He said, "This was actually my first time at Cambridge, I had never been there before and it was always my dream to visit it. It was nice to walk the same streets where my grandfather had studied his PhD many years ago".

What is more of the movie is that Abhishek is playing the role of father of his own father Amitabh Bachchan on screen. Thus the movie means so much to Abhishek.

The movie is directed by Balakrishna, popularly known as Balki who had earlier worked with Big B in Cheeni Kum. It is about to release this December 4th. It also stars Vidya Balan and Harman Baweja in important roles.Sometime back the release of movie was clashing with the other Bachchan starrer 'Teen Patti' but because of personal request of Mr Bachchan the clash was avoided.

Looks like movie got so much associated with Bachchans.

Paa to release on December 4, 2009

To avoid a clash with another Bachchan starrer, the talented director Balki who has directed Paa has shifted the release date of his film and changed it to Decemver 4, 2009 from November 13.




Though he was excitingly waiting for project Paa to release, but as Mr. Bachchan personally requested the producers of Teen Patti to not allow it to clash with Paa. So it’s Paa solo on December 4.Bachchan plays a character of a progeric person in the film.

Says Paa director Balki, “As far as I’m concerned it was only Paa on December 4. We were supposed to release on November 13. But that was only two weeks after another Amitabh Bachchan starrer Alladin. And we couldn’t ask Alladin to shift. They’ve gone through too many delays,”

Balki before leaving for patchwork shooting in Lucknow where the last schedule of the film is being shot and where the film is set on Tuesday said that, “though Paa is set in Lucknow this is the first time I’m visiting the city in my entire life,” said Balki.

The film also stars Abhishek Bachchan and Vidya Balan and has been shot in various places including Delhi and Cambridge University, London.

Big B to play 12 year old child

Amitabh Bachchan is all set to do a challenging role at the age of 66. Big B is going to play a boy 54 years younger to him. But this superstar has prepared to give his best shot to pull off the seemingly impossible.




Rather than having a child artist play the role, Amitabh Bachchan himself plays 12-year-old son of Abhishek Bachchan in director R Balakrishnan’s film Pa. In the movie Big B plays a character suffering from Progeria and therefore he ages very fast through the course of the story.

Big B for this had to use a lot of prosthetic make-up to look like a 12-year-old child. To stay within his character, the megastar would often throw childish tantrums on the sets. On the sets, Big B would also stomp his feet like a brat and just go on whining.

Balki admits he’s floored by Big B’s dedication for his role in the film. So, quite wisely, the director has decided that the movie’s credits will read ‘Introducing Amitabh Bachchan’ because the superstar hasn’t played any role like this before in his life.

Abhishek Bipasha as Ravana and Mandodri

Bipasha Basu has signed on to play Ravan's wife Mandodari in Mani Ratnam's upcoming film, Ravana. Abhishek Bachchan plays Ravana.Aishwarya Rai plays the role of Sita, the central figure of the story.South actor Vikram plays Aishwarya's husband, Ram.




Bipasha will begin filming from mid September for a period of 20 days.Her 40 minute long role is important and includes an item song.

Mandodari, the beautiful and pious daughter of the King of Danavas,Mayasura and the celestial dancer, Apsara Hema, is best known as the Queen Consort of Ravana. She was the mother of Indrajit, who got his name after defeating Indra, the King of Gods.

Bipasha immediately said yes to the role. She had agreed to do it a month ago but Mani Ratnam had given her strict instructions to not talk about it. Bipasha's costumes are ready. She is very happy with her look in the film. She is looking forward to joining the unit of Raavana.

Essaying the role of Ravan in Mani Ratnam’s next flick, Abhishek’s look is doing him much good as he is getting under the skin of the character. The actor has shaved off his greasy hair. But it’s going to take a while before Abhishek comes out in the open with his ‘Ravana’ look as the actor is observing strict orders by director Mani Ratnam.

Abhi-Aish to be paired in Crooked

The film ‘Crooked’ produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under the banner of Excel Entertainment is to be made in the same like Hollywood’s top spy based flick Bourne Identity.

The movie features Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Gunal Pag, Boman Irani, and Jimmy Shergill in main roles. The film's shooting will start in Mumbai on January 4, and it has a non-stop schedule of 40 days in Greece, Thailand, London and Istanbul too.

Abhishek Bachchan's upcoming movies for 2010 include Mani Ratnam's Raavan opposite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Paa with co-star Vidya Balan. The star is all set to bang the silver screen with his outstanding performance.

Abhishek's turn to do a historical film

Post Aamir Khan's ‘Lagaan', Hrithik Roshan's ‘Jodha-Akbar', Salman Khan's Veer, now comes the turn of Abhishek Bachchan to entitle a role for himself in a historical film. News is that well-known director Ashutosh Gowarikar is ready yet again with an idea of a period film and this time he wants Abhishek to do the lead role. Ashutosh is working over the menace created in Chittagong during the British period which is portrayed in a book that he will refer to for writing the script.

The movie is based on a book titled ‘Do or Die' penned down by Manini Chatterjee of which Ashutosh Gowarikar has bought the copyrights for film-making.

The movie is said to be named as ‘Khele Hum Ji Jaan Se' which will have a big star cast and will have even bigger budget.

Delhi 6 modified for screening at Venice

An okay response in India and high acclaims from foreign! But it really happened to Director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and his film Delhi 6.

The film starring Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor, Delhi-6, might have kindled only select few here, but it was well received in Venice, where the movie was screened at the 66th Venice Film Festival.

It was all due to the timely changes that the filmmaker did before the movie entered the festival. It seems that the director was not at all happy with the old version and the thought was troubling him. Finally he listened to his heart and edited the movie. The new version shows the hero, Abhishek Bachchan, dying in the climax. 'The new version is Rakeysh Mehra's original script. This is the first time that a film has been re-shot and re-edited post release.'

The director is now very happy that he went ahead with the changes. He filmed the sequence of Abhishek's character's ashes being immersed in the river. The film now begins with his voice over announcing he's dead now. So it's now a dead man's story. Everything falls into place now. We also understand why Abhishek played the role so quietly, sensitively. It was such a beautiful piece of grammar.

Most of the filmmakers have their way to bring out films, not paying heed to public’s interest.

Abhishek is not a good dancer

Abhishek Bachchan in his flick Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, which was directed by Shaad Ali and produced by Aditya Chopra had to shake his leg just too often. Given that Abhishek is not a trained dancer and looks most uncomfortable while shaking a leg, choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant had to really push him to perform.





Abhishek Bachchan admitted that throughout his film career whatever he had performed is only because of Vaibhavi Merchant, whether she was choreographing the song or not. Vaibhavi is one person who has really helped Abhi to throw caution to the wind and just be. She was the first choreographer who told him that it's not how good a dancer you are but how well you enjoy the song.

The actor feels Bolna Halke Halke was more difficult to choreograph than the title track, but Vaibhavi has been extremely professional and versatile. "I love her range as a choreographer; if you see Jhoom Barabar Jhoom you will understand it. She is the same person who has picturised a Jhoom Barabar Jhoom song and Bolna Halke Halke at the same time and has done it effortlessly," Abhishek Bachchan gushes.

So does Abhishek admit he is limited as a dancer? Now-a-days Abhishek is busy shooting for Mani Ratnam's film Raavna opposite his wife Aishwarya Rai and ofcourse the actor will also be seen playing father to Amitabh Bachchan in the flick Pa.

Mani Ratnam not happy with Abhishek's performance

Some portions of Mani Ratnam's flick Raavan are being re-shot as the filmmaker is not happy with the rushes. Mani Ratnam is not happy with Abhishek Bachchan’s performance in the film, compared to Southern superstar Vikram, who seems to be stealing Abhishek’s thunder with his fine performance.

Since he is not the central character, Mani Ratnam thinks he will over-shadow Abhishek, who is the hero of the film and so he wants to re-shoot some scenes just to make sure Abhishek is not over looked.

As for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, she will have a dance choreographed by internationally renowned dancer Astad Deboo. The actress is also an old hand when it comes to her association with Mani Ratnam, with whom she did her first film Iruvar.

Raavan also stars Govinda, and the film is also being made in Tamil as Ashokavanam with a different cast. The film Raavan is only a reference point and Mani Ratnam does not want to court controversy by suggesting that Sita falls in love with Raavan. The film is set for released in early 2010.

Abhishek have to take a backseat

Abhishek Bachchan will have to take a backseat, as it’s not him but Hrithik Roshan, who will fill in the famous shoes of Amitabh Bachchan as Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, in the remake of Agneepath.

The film is directed by Karan Malhotra, a long time associate of Karan Johar, the film has been in the news with Hrithik Roshan being considered as the leading man for this cult classic, which propelled Amitabh Bachchan into super-stardom.

Recently, a lot of rumours were doing rounds as to who would star in the lead, as talks were on with both Hrithik and Abhishek Bachchan. Abhishek Bachchan loves to have Indain food,especially he's very fond of Vegetable Biryani.

It was reported that Agneepath was one of Abhishek’s favourite films and he would love to fill in the shoes of his Pa. Abhishek also mentioned, it was his dream to play one of his father's characters and Agneepath was perhaps the best offer he could have expected.

Hrithik will start shooting for Agneepath, after Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish, thereby postponing Vishal Bharadwaj’s film, which by the way was scripted specifically for Hrithik.

A 1990 blockbuster, Agneepath was directed by Mukul S. Anand and produced by Karan's father Yash Johar. The remake will be directed by Karan Malhotra one of Johar's trusted lieutenants.

Abhishek & Riteish in Agneepath Remake

With Abhishek Bachchan just giving a nod to Karan Johar’s ‘Agneepath’ remake where he will be seen portraying daddy’s famous character ‘Vijay Dinanath Chauhan’, things seem to have become easier for other actors interested in the project too.

Abhishek’s good buddy Riteish Deshmukh has been signed by Karan Johar to play the likeable Krishnan Iyer MA (played by Mithun Chakraborty in the original).

Riteish Deshmukh is more or less finalised to play the part made famous by Mithun Chakraborty in the Agneepath remake which Karan Johar intends to produce under his Dharma Productions banner. After Hrithik has not shown much keen interest in playing the gangster Vijay
Dinanath Chavan in the film, chances are Abhishek Bachchan will step in to play the role which was originally played by his father Amitabh Bachchan. Both Riteish and Abhishek share great chemistry which was evident in Bluffmaster and one just hopes the same magic is recreated.

Let’s see if Riteish will be able to do justice to the character for the stakes are surely high and so are the expectations, as the illustrious Mithun had won a Filmfare Award in the Best Supporting
Actor category for the same.

Abhishek's Sarkar Raj

Sequels are dicey business. No matter how much you improvise on your new script, you cannot escape comparisons. And when you attempt a sequel of a critically acclaimed film that's a huge box-office grosser as well.

RGV bounces back like never before with the flick Sarkar Raj" . If you felt Shiva and later Satya were his finest efforts, you've got to watch Sarkar Raj. An outstanding film in all respects, this film has all it takes to emerge a major success story at the box-office and a landmark film in everyone's careers.

When Anita [Aishwarya Bachchan], CEO of Sheppard Power Plant, an international company, brings a power plant proposal to set up in rural Maharashtra" before the Nagres, insightful Shankar [Abhishek Bachchan] is quick to realize the benefits the power plant can bring to the people.

After convincing Sarkar [Amitabh Bachchan], who is against it for various reasons, Shankar undertakes a journey along with Anita to the villages of Maharashtra to mobilize support from the masses.

Sarkar Raj is yet another political film. Emotions and relationships run concurrently in those 3 hours. What works in favor of Sarkar Raj is its tight writing. It leaves you awe-struck as the plot thickens. The film throws a number of surprises. The culmination to the story is simply fantastic!

RGV shines like never before. He takes to Sarkar Raj with a vengeance. He has to prove that the sequel is better, he has to prove the detractors wrong too. While RGV has handled the subject with great expertise, you cannot ignore a few scenes that leave a lasting impact...

Amitabh Bachchan, expectedly, comes up with a terrific performance. He's as ferocious as a wounded tiger in the finale and takes the film to great heights.
First Yuva, then Guru, now Sarkar Raj. Abhishek Bachchan is cast opposite the finest actor of this country, yet he sparkles in every sequence. Aishwarya Bachchan is fabulous and delivers her career-best performance in Sarkar Raj.

Every supporting actor in Sarkar Raj stands out - Dilip Prabhawalkar was superb in the film, Govind Namdev got the first-rate, Sayaji Shinde was perfect, Ravi Kale was terrific too and Supriya Pathak was good at her performance. The review would be incomplete without giving the due credit to writer Prashant Pandey" incredible and almost flawless script. On the whole, Sarkar Raj is an exceptional film in all respects.

Abhishek accompanies Ash to Cannes

Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan, launched the India Pavillion on the Cannes beach front amidst great fanfare even as festival's Deputy General-Delegate Christian Jeune hoped that India would soon end its dry run at the French festival.

Abhi who was not accompanied by wifey Aishawairya drew a crowd of photographers, pen pushers and autograph-seekers, who elbowed one another to get closer to the star, who was clearly the man of the moment.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and veteran actress Sharmila Tagore who is on the festival jury, failed to make an appearance much to the dismay of the assembled crowd but the event was attended by Subhash Ghai, Deepti Naval, Manisha Koirala, producer Bobby Bedi and Christian Jeune, Deputy General-Delegate of the Cannes Film Festival amongst others.

In a brief speech, Jeune hoped that India's dry run at the Festival, now on since the 2002 Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Devdas", would soon end.

Deepti Naval is in Cannes to screen her debut feature, "Two Paise for Sunshine, Four Annas for Rain", in the market tomorrow along with Manisha Koirala, who plays the lead in the film.

Unassuming but that's true, Amitabh Bachchan has apparently rejected
the idea of working in the movie Aladin with son Abhishek Bachchan.

Director Sujoy Ghosh initially wanted to rope in Abhishek in the movie
which is based on the Arabian tale of Aladin and Genie. Big B instead
made Sujoy rope in Riteish Deshmukh for the role.

Sujoy says that he narrated the script to Big B after which the
superstar requested him not to cast Abhishek in the role. The reason
Big B and his son were already working in Pa and so he wanted to work
with a fresh face this time.

The father and the son duo have been part of some hits including
Sarkar, Sarkar Raj and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna.

Abhishek Bachchan is set to play Amitabh’s father in R. Balki’s forthcoming film “Pa”. This role reversal is indeed the USP of the film apart from Big B’s look in the film which is a huge secret and from what we hear, he takes about five hours to do his make-up.

The entire project is being shot in secrecy and no one from outside the unit is allowed in. People from the set are also not permitted to speak about the film to the media.

Our sources tell us that in “Pa” Amitabh plays the alienated and slightly retarded son of Abhishek. His look has been designed by make-up men specially flown in from London.

This is not for the first time that the father-son is playing likewise on-screen. They have shared screen as father and son in Sarkar series.

This is something to wait for... so wait and watch!!!
